Elkamet Manufacturing In-situ polymerisation (T-RTM)

In-situ polymerisation (T-RTM)

We use the thermoplastic polyamide 6 as the matrix material. Let us work together to develop a product using in-situ polymerisation and transfer it to series production, based on our many years of expertise in PA6 processing.

Procedure

  • Produce fibre preform and insert into mould
  • Dosing of caprolactam + additives
  • Polymerisation in the mould
  • Demoulding

Advantages of the T-RTM process

  • Sustainability: Recycling and reuse possible (thermoplastic)
  • 67% glass fibre content provides excellent mechanical properties
    • Other fibre types possible
  • Geometry: low viscosity of the monomer melt
    • long flow paths with low wall thickness
    • voluminous semi-finished products
  • Functionalities:
    • Addition of functions possible through moulded geometries (tabs, etc.)
  • Surface can be painted
