Elkamet Girls’ Day 2026: Experience technology, get creative, discover new things

On 23 April 2026, we at Elkamet took part in Girls’ Day once again at our Biedenkopf site – together with ten participants.

Technical and hands-on roles characterise many areas at Elkamet. At the same time, these career fields are still frequently male-dominated in practice. That is precisely why Girls’ Day is more than just an event on the calendar for us: it provides insights, encourages questions and helps to break down barriers.

Why we take
part in Girls’ Day We want to encourage girls and young women to form their own impressions of technical careers, free from stereotypes. A day at the company can make a big difference: experiencing working environments, exploring interests and discovering what suits them best.

For us, one thing is clear: talent isn’t tied to any particular gender. Anyone interested in technology, production and hands-on tasks should have the same opportunities to try things out and find their own path.

A day for getting involved and taking something away
To make ‘technology’ something tangible, the focus was on hands-on activities. There was practical work, experimentation and testing, and there was plenty of scope for creativity too.

The programme included, amongst other things:

  • Building a small model racing car – from screwing and assembling to a test run
  • Personalising the models, giving each vehicle its own unique look
  • T-shirt printing using the screen-printing method, including personalised designs as a souvenir

On-site insights: a tour of the production
facilities During the tour of the Biedenkopf site, the group headed straight into the production area. There, the participants were able to see modern machinery in action and observe how products are manufactured at Elkamet. Such insights demonstrate just how diverse technical work is and how many different tasks and skills are involved.

Ultimately, what mattered most was what the participants took away with them: concrete impressions, new questions and answers, greater confidence in dealing with technology, and the feeling that such careers are entirely within reach.

This commitment turns an event into a genuine experience and, sometimes, a first step towards choosing a career.
