The blow moulding process enables the efficient production of precise luminaires from high-quality plastics. In blow moulding, we use durable and impact-resistant polycarbonate, which is an ideal material for our luminaire bodies due to its optical brilliance. This process is essential in the plastics industry and offers maximum design freedom for a wide variety of applications. All kinds of finishes are available as options, such as metallisation or assembly.
We begin by manufacturing a bottle-shaped preform from PC granulate using an injection moulding process. This preform forms the basis for the end product.
The preform is heated and, once it has softened, inflated with air pressure to take on the shape of the tool. The result is a hollow luminaire cover with a crystal-clear surface. Our technology and careful process ensure that every product is perfectly suited for further processing, such as metallisation and painting.
A metal layer is applied to the inner surface by vacuum metallisation to create a reflective, translucent or opaque surface. A flawless surface on the blow-moulded parts is the basis for an exclusive appearance.
For example, we apply translucent coloured lacquer to the product for a high-quality and unique appearance.
Our luminaire bodies are manufactured with the utmost precision to ensure that both quality and functionality are guaranteed at every stage of the production process. Precision milling not only enables precise shaping, but also the integration of functional elements such as cutouts.
Each of these steps is followed by a thorough quality inspection.
